Resolution Revolution!
Around January 1, 2011, I wrote down a list of things to consider for the new year. They weren’t resolutions, just things to keep in mind. I committed them to yarn the next day, knitting a large banner to keep me warm and to remind me of what I was thinking as 2011 was beginning. The stovetop espresso maker on the lower right signifies the start of something, a clean slate and a new day.
Soonafter, I realized that many of the suggestions I’d collected were no longer important. I was a different person, but my communications were stuck coming from a former version of myself. Looking at the knitted piece, I imagine myself shouting through a tube from the past. The work is personal, but it’s no longer personally about me. Like the torn porn, the reference is to a time past, a brief moment, a snapshot.
