As
part of Tina
B., The Prague Contemporary Art Festival, artists
were invited to submit billboard designs for the Billboard
Text Art section of the festival, which were then put
up around Prague. My design had roots in the 2004 U.S.
presidential election. I had previously knit a red American
flag with a similar manifesto about the color red to reference
the fact that network television had chosen red to represent
Republican votes. Red has traditionally been the color
used by communists, socialists, and labor unions, and I
was confused and irritated that it was now associated with
heavy capitalism. This is the second version of the manifesto
about the color red and it's more angry than the first.
